The quest for free wifi continues. There’s a few options but nowt that doesn’t require a £6 pint! #
Odd bunch in chalet. Some fine, some a bit intense! Most seem to like the free wine and none seem to go out après ski. #
Been overcast and snowy the last 2 days so mixed boarding. Lots of snow falling now and looking good for tomorrow. #

Holiday Albums Web2.0 Style

This blog is effectively an experiment of what can be achieved quickly and easily by using free software, web services, and all the shiny shiny web2.0 gizmos that are out there.

Images will be automatically pulled from my Flickr stream which will be updated either nightly from my laptop sync or instantaneously direct from my iPhone with GPS location info embedded.

Videos will be edited on my Macbook and uploaded to YouTube as soon as they are ready. These will of course be automatically added to the video playlist on this site.

Instant comments will come courtesy of Twitter which can be made anywhere using an iPhone app. They will also be pulled into the blog individually and in digest format. As a last resort these will come courtesy of Twitter’s SMS support.

Soundtrack updates will come courtesy of the wonderful Last.fm which will log laptop playbacks or scrobble instantly via the Cydia installed app on my iPhone.

All that remains is to integrate some sort of GPS route tracking and mapping and the instant holiday album of the future is good to go!

Just to top things off, this first post was made on my iPhone direct to the blog!

My heads spinning already.

New Music

This week I have been mostly listening to new bands. Rising to the top seem to be De Rosa and Chemikal Underground have kindly provided some free tunes. They seem to take the best elements of bands like Arab Strap and the Delgados and make it into something rather special and unique.

Also on my radar are Kid Canaveral who have a catchy new record called Smash Hits out next week. I’ll tell you what though – I don’t half hate those MySpace music websites – pile of crap.

Holidaying in Ireland

Just back from a trip to Ireland. The coast around the very northern tip of Southern Ireland is a beautiful combination of rugged rocks and long sweeping golden beaches.
